Leafy Seadragon
Native to the southern and western coasts of Australia, Leafy Seadragons (Phycodurus eques) are typically found in shallow coastal waters, near rocky reefs and seaweed-covered areas. They have an appearance that mimics floating seaweed, providing them with effective camouflage. Adult Leafy Seadragons can reach lengths of up to 14 inches. The Leafy Seadragon belongs to the family Syngnathidae, which also includes seahorses. Like seahorses, male Leafy Seadragons are responsible for carrying the eggs.
