Chain Pickerel (Esox niger) are native to eastern North America and have a range that extends from the Great Lakes region to the Gulf of Mexico. These fish are commonly found in slow-moving or still waters, including ponds, lakes, and sluggish streams. They prefer areas with vegetation or structures that provide cover for ambushing prey. As voracious predators, Chain Pickerel feed on a variety of prey, including fish, amphibians, insects, and even small mammals!
