March and April 2021 Newsletter!
Dear All,
First, thank you all for keeping us so busy!!!
We’re super excited about the little signs of spring that we’ve been seeing. First, we saw the trough-like path of the waddling skunk in the fresh snow a few weeks ago, a sure sign of spring! Then fox footprints, and the loss of a chicken to said fox (most likely)... another sign of spring (and a reminder to get my butt out there to close up the chicken coop at dusk). The vultures have returned, and are roosting in the pines next to our house. More skunks… some snuffling along the side of the road, others not so lucky, laying in the road where they met their demise to our stupid human cars always in a hurry (myself included… not that I hit a skunk, I just am guilty of driving around too fast in my car, spewing pollution as I go). Rich (my husband) saw a Bluebird on his birthday (March 3rd), and the cardinals, chickadees and blue jays are singing and flitting about in the neighborhood. The sap is flowing!!! For those of you who don’t live up north, there’s this thing called Mud season, which coincides with Maple sap gathering season. Our dirt roads are full of tremendous ruts, which I navigate with care as our car is not very tall. Bunny has been demanding to go outside even more than usual, and then of course there are the bats that have found their way into our roof and scratch around in the insulation driving Bunny crazy… and so Spring dreams are in the air, and I myself am glad because this winter was ROUGH! Ooof!

New Patterns!
We’re super excited to share this pattern, a collaboration in yarn between ourselves and Hand Dyed Diva! This yarn company belongs to Ladianne Henderson, owner of Cheers to Ewe, one of our LYS partners. She has combined our fingering weight yarns to produce this gorgeous brioche garment that we just can’t get enough of! You can purchase your pattern through our retail shop at https://roundmountainfibers.com/shop/tides-of-time-shawl-pattern.
Want to get a FREE copy of this pattern? Add it to your cart and use coupon code FREEPATTERN with your next order of $100 or more at www.roundmoutnainfibers.com/shop
Looking for a simple beginner’s pattern? How about a colorful oversized super squishy Bluegill Scarf designed by me? If I can knit it, so can you! :) I had a lot of fun knitting this up. The garment calls for 3 skeins of our Willow Worsted yarn: One colorway, and two skeins of the same semisolid. Want a subtle look? Then choose two semisolids that make an appearance in the colorway. For a bolder look, choose a high contrast semisolid that does not appear in the colorway! You can purchase this pattern through our retail site at: https://roundmountainfibers.com/shop/bluegill-scarf

Finally, we have another garment that features our Fade Collections! Did you know that we offer fade collections in ALL of our bases and ALL of our featured colorways? We do… and here is a garment that calls for 2 miniskein Fades in Spruce Fingering. You can purchase your Faylinn Fairy Wing scarf pattern through the retail site, at https://roundmountainfibers.com/shop/faylinn-fairy-wing-scarf.

Featured Shop:
This month, we are featuring Sethany Knits, a Family Yarn Shop! Sethany Knits is located in Medford Oregon, and offers supplies for Knitting, Crocheting, Spinning and Weaving. Their shop is a partnership between husband and wife, Bethany and Seth! Hence the name :) We’ve been working with them for about two years, and thought we’d share a few things that are unique to their shop!
First, they work up swatches in both knit and crochet, which is a ton of work and totally awesome as it helps customers to see how the yarn looks when it’s been worked up! Here’s a photo of February’s Geology Club colorway ‘Labradorite’. The swatches show the pops of color quite nicely!
Currently, they have two year-long Blanket KALs that feature our Willow Worsted semisolids, and a CAL blanket that uses our Willow DK in variegated colorways!
They also subscribe to our Club, and are offering two Club related specials:
A spring special where you get a free skein of Round Mountain Fibers Fingering weight yarn (from their in-shop stock) when you sign up for a 4 month subscription!
$5 off per skein ANYTIME you pre-order or sign up for a subscription.
So check them out! Their website is www.sethankyknits.com and they are on Instagram @sethanyknitsyarnshop and Facebook @SethanyKnitsLYS.
