Painted Lady Butterfly

The most widespread species of butterfly in the world, the Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) is found everywhere except Australia and Antarctica. It was formerly referred to as the Cosmopolitan. It migrates to warmer climates in the winter rather than going dormant.
