February 2023 Newsletter!

Hi Everyone!

We’re so excited that our new websites are up! The retail site features more colors than ever before, and many different ways to search them. Go check it out! You can search by color, search by collection, search by dye method… AND we’ve added a TON of colors to Dye to Order, in addition to the brand new 2023 Featured Colors! So go check it out!

We’ve added a new collection to our website: Staff Picks. These are colorways that we love that don’t fit the theme of our Collections. So, for example, our Ornithology Collection features pooling/striping colorways without speckles. But we had some gorgeous ornithology inspired colorways we made through Fan Club that featured speckles! So we popped those in Staff Picks! Also, there are colorways inspired by landscapes, mammals, etc. in Staff Picks. You’ll find other colorways inspired by landscapes etc. in Dye to Order as well, but these were our favorites. To shop Staff Picks go to https://www.roundmountainfibers.com/featured-colors/shop-by-collection/staff-picks.

This month’s Fan Club is underway, with members submitting photos for their chosen category for the month: Underwater Creatures. Here are 6 of my favorite submissions. If you like the idea of helping to design a brand new colorway every month, and get the inside scoop on what it’s like to dye yarn, then Fan Club is for you! To find out more about Fan Club, visit https://www.roundmountainfibers.com/fan-club.

Our Island Fundraiser is going strong. We raised $240 For Vinalhaven Eldercare last month! Thank you so much to everyone who participated! This month’s Island Fundraiser is called Ropes and Traps and the coordinating semisolid is Rope Blue. 50% of retail proceeds and $5 per wholesale skein will be donated to the Vinalhaven Historical Society! To purchase these, please visit https://www.roundmountainfibers.com/island-fundraiser.

Our LYS Exclusive Clubs are back! We’re starting with the Aquatic and Ornithology clubs. These colors are only available for purchase from one of our LYSs, so make sure you tag your favorite LYS when we post these on social media. I will post when we ship them out so you know which shops have purchased them. This month we are featuring the following colors. Shops have through the end of February to order them, and they’ll ship out on or before the first week of March.

Now that the two new Round Mountain Fibers sites are up (wholesale and retail) we’re going to be focusing on improving the Drunk Yarn site! Drunk Yarn is our side project: Home Dyeing Kits in colors inspired by Alcoholic Beverages, Tea and Coffee! There are 12 “flavors” available. We’ve decided to improve the kits by including TWO DYE PACKETS instead of one! This way, you can use one dye packet if you want, or two if you want a more saturated color. OR, you can mix and match kits and dye them using two different packets! Here are a few beautiful combos you can make, using the speckled method:

Mai Tai and Midori Sour; Mojito and Sangria; Darjeeling and Coffee; Blue Agave and Bourbon

To shop Drunk Yarn go to www.drunkyarn.com or purchase from your local LYS! You can follow us on Facebook and Instagram for tutorials and the occasional humorous post!

And that’s all for this month! We have some real winter weather coming in this weekend… so we’ll be spending some quality time by the fire, or maybe we’ll bundle up and head outdoors! Or I’ll be in the pottery studio, most likely, throwing some pots. If you’re interested in checking out my pottery, you can follow me on Instagram or Facebook at Stone River Pottery.

Hugs, Monica
